When Darklands Online
first started, it is based on a a medieval theme with RPG elements. Players start off in a small German town in Europe during the dark ages (hence the name of the title, dark lands). Players explore the vast dark lands of Europe, assisting towns and villages by completing quests, missions, mini-task and others. Players can level up their characters becoming stonger and collect treasures, spells, skills and others.
It has since went a complete re-write to change the core of the game from RPG to strategy and to include fantasy elements. Stephen
kept the RPG elements of leveling up, collection of treasures, spells, skills and included collecting defeated creatures and monsters, created a party system that allows the player to play with various defeated creatures as AI party members.
Players now control their own town or village, can upgrade their town, attack other player`s towns. Guilds are available and members of your guild can assist you in farming your town (collecting money, resource or experience points).
